Huddart Park Greer Entrance Bridge Reopened July 11
with Trail Fund Support

Huddart Bridge Greer Entrance

The Kings Mountain Trail bridge at the end of Greer Road leading into Huddart Park trails needed to be replaced. The creek had undermined the footings. The County provided the labor for the project but, because of extensive storm damage over this past year, they had no budget available for the rebuild. Your support for the Trail Fund allowed the WCF to provide $5,000 toward the $60,000 required. The work was completed and the new bridge opened July 11.

Additional work was done on the multi-use Crystal Springs Trail that intersects Raymundo Drive. The trail was badly eroded, silting in the drainage system. The trail from Raymundo Dr., up to the Fire Road also required new rock. The WCF Trail Fund provided $5,000 for the pipe and anchoring system while the County provided the rock. Work was done in July.

Woodside Landscape Committee Restoring Historic Alec Donald Triangle

Last winter’s heavy rains felled a large tree in the Alec Donald Triangle, a historic landmark opposite Roberts Market. Now that more sunlight is available beneath the remaining trees, the Landscape Committee will be working to beautify the area by adding native irises and a few other drought tolerant plants.

With your support, the WLC also maintains the landscaping around the Community Museum and, working with the Town, placed a bench along Canada Road and a picnic table below the Town Hall parking area to provide Woodsiders with attractive spaces to relax.

The WCF General Fund

In addition to supporting our funds, a gift to the WCF General Fund helps ensure that the Foundation stays ready to meet the ever-changing needs of our community.

General Funds are often used to establish matching grants to partner with our loyal donors to support charitable projects. A small portion of General Funds are also used to “keep the lights on,” to cover administrative costs for things such as bookkeeping accounts, and communications.

Thank you for caring about your community and for your generosity. Your support truly makes a difference.
