WOW raises funds for Woodside Village Church repairs

On a sunny Saturday afternoon in June, the recently formed Friends of the Woodside Village Church kicked off an energetic new effort to raise much-needed funds for repairs and deferred maintenance of the Town’s historic Village Church.

With generous donations from nine local wineries, and nine restaurants and retailers, the Friends sponsored a wine-tasting and silent auction, raising in excess of $23,000. These funds will be used for safety-related maintenance items in and around the church.

Working with both the Woodside Community Foundation and the Church’s Maintenance Committee, the Friends are hoping to springboard from the Wines of Woodside event to a capital campaign aimed at raising the funds needed to make the church property into a safe and beautiful gathering space open to all in the community.

Reflecting on the success of the Wines of Woodside event, Friends’ co-founder Marsha Campbell says, “Our partnership with the Woodside Community Foundation has been such a blessing. It has allowed us to step away from the religious aspects of the church and focus instead on the church as a beacon for the history and values of the Woodside community.”
