Retired Fund:
Woodside Community Theatre Fund

The purpose of the Woodside Community Theatre (WCT) Fund is to provide a high-quality theatre experience at an affordable price. We are proud to say that WCT continues to be the least expensive of all the community theatres on the Peninsula.

What donations are used for:

Ticket revenues never generate enough funding to cover the costs of our productions so we rely on donations from the community to keep the Woodside Community Theatre alive and thriving.

We produce one play a year, and rely heavily on our dedicated volunteers to make our productions possible.

Donations and ticket revenues are primarily used to pay for our top-notch choreographers, directors and occasionally for our set-designers. We will also occasionally pay a small stipend for a sound engineer if a volunteer is not available. Whenever possible, volunteers design and produce our costumes and sets.

Past productions of the Woodside Community Theatre include:

  • Annie Get Your Gun
  • Kiss Me Kate
  • Anything Goes
  • Fiddler on the Roof
  • South Pacific
  • The Sound of Music
  • The Producers
  • Curtains

In 2015, Woodside Community Theatre will be performing “Chicago” in late October and early November.

How you can help:

We are always looking for volunteers to help with our productions. Volunteer jobs include: building and painting sets, ticket sales, set crew, costume care, backstage help, and much more. Please contact Donna Losey or Liz Matchett if you want to get involved!

Why this fund is important:

Theatre is a part of life! We learn through theatre; we escape through theatre; we teach and experience life through theatre. We believe the theatre experience should be a part of EVERYONE’S life.

Because the Woodside High School Drama Department’s Boosters share the belief that learning to love theatre should start young, each year this generous group of parents provides the funds needed to underwrite the entire cost of tickets for high school students. In return, we are proud to share all of our costumes and sets with the WHS Drama Department. In the event that another theatre company takes a loan of our materials, the proceeds of this loan are donated to the Woodside High School Drama Department.
